Eric is a lifelong Winnipegger, husband, father of three, small business owner, and longtime community volunteer who has called South Pointe home with his family since 2013.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Eric is a graduate of Tec-Voc High School and later the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Arts. He went on to spend 12 years working as a Juvenile Counsellor with Manitoba Corrections, an experience that gave him the opportunity to work directly with young people and families facing difficult circumstances. Before that, he also served several years as a volunteer Case Worker with the Keewatin-Maples Youth Justice Committee, helping support a community-based approach to accountability and positive change.

Community involvement has been an important part of Eric’s life for many years. His volunteer work has included coaching youth basketball and Timbits soccer with Riverbend Community Centre, Churchill High School, and South Winnipeg Community Centre. He also currently serves as an Ambassador and member of the Board of Directors for Lifesaving Society Manitoba and is a longtime volunteer with the KidFish Ice Fishing Derby organizing committee.

Eric owns and manages Kickerfish Media. His business includes territory sales for a number of companies in the outdoor recreation and sportfishing industries, along with organizing competitive fishing events. He is the Tournament Director of over twenty fishing competitions throughout the year as well as Show Director of the Winnipeg Ice Fishing Show. Running his own business has given Eric firsthand experience with the challenges of managing budgets, building partnerships, and bringing ideas to fruition.

Our Family and South Pointe

For Eric, South Pointe isn’t simply the community where he lives — it’s where his family has grown up.

Eric and his wife Divine have lived in South Pointe since 2013 and are raising their three children here. Their two oldest daughters, Alyssa and Kayla, were among the first students to attend South Pointe School after it was newly built. Today, both are students at the University of Manitoba, while their youngest, Nash, is in Grade 3 attending the same school his sisters did.

Having raised children within the Pembina Trails School Division for more than a decade, Eric has experienced the school system not only as a community member, but as a parent. He has seen firsthand the important role our schools, teachers, support staff, administrators, and families play in helping young people learn, grow, and succeed.
