Why i’m running

I am running for School Trustee because I believe parents and families deserve a strong, accessible voice at the board table, and that the best interests of our students should always be at the heart of the decisions we make.

As a parent and longtime South Pointe resident, I understand the opportunities and challenges that come with educating students in one of Winnipeg’s growing communities. As enrolment and our neighbourhoods continue to grow and change, thoughtful planning and responsible decision-making are essential to ensuring our schools have the space, resources, programs, and supports they need.

My many years of working with at-risk youth through Manitoba Corrections taught me that every young person has different circumstances, challenges, strengths, and potential. The numerous teams that I have coached over the years have reinforced with me the importance of mentorship, teamwork, encouragement, and giving young people opportunities to succeed. Experience overcoming hurdles as a small business owner and active board member has also taught me the importance of responsible budgeting, accountability, collaboration, and following through on commitments.

Most importantly, I am a parent who cares deeply about the education and opportunities available to our children in Southwest Winnipeg.  I want every family in Pembina Trails to have confidence that their children are receiving a high-quality education in schools that are safe, welcoming, well-supported, and focused on helping every student reach their potential.

As your School Trustee, I will bring a parent’s perspective, a commitment to responsible decision-making, and a willingness to listen and work with others. I want to be a strong voice for our students and families and help ensure Pembina Trails continues to be a school division our community can be proud of.
